Looking for these boots at a Gap near you? Look again: They're from Barneys. Credit: Barneys New York
It's hard to miss the super cool high-heeled construction-worker-inspired boots worn by the ladies in Gap's current "Gung Ho Ho" ad campaign. But while Gap was "eighty-sixing the rules" for how to spend the holidays (and promoting flannel as the hip thing to wear), they also dissed the cardinal rule of advertising: Show off your own goods.
No, really. The boots, which are prominently featured in the Gap's cheery holiday ads are not available anywhere on the chain's site, nor at Gap's sister store, shoe etailer Piperlime. Did the boots sell out, like so many other cool things this season? Are they the apparel equivalent of a Zhu Zhu pet? Fashionistas have been desperately searching for an answer, and for the boots.
Don't worry, you can still get them, just not at the Gap. The LA Times' Booth More rang up Gap's PR people and got an answer: The sexy lace up ankle boots are part of Barneys' exclusive CO-OP Shoes line. And, despite the fact that they appear in the Gap ads in chocolate brown, they're available in tan only, and at Barneys prices: These heels are made in Italy and retail for $395.
That's a little more than your average pair of Gap boots.
Oh, and those fun red laces? You'll have to buy them separately to holiday-up the look. No word on where the laces can be found.
Ok...not only are you advertising boots that you don't sell but your advertising boots that you can't get in that color???? WHAT? If they only sell them in tan then how are they wearing dark brown? They exist, or at least for the commercial they do.
They may very well have dyed the shoes. Anyhting leather can usually be dyed (darker) fairly easily (i have had my horse tack dyed black at an amish tack shop that does leather work). They may need a coating of somethng over top though so the dye doesnt run.....

We had an amazing day and later on she joined me at a hotel. It was like a fantasy come true. Amazing company, amazing sex too and a really warm and loving woman. What're you, an idiot? They aren't advertising the boots... do you think they're advertising bad haircuts and skinny blonds too just because they're in the commercial? Jesus tapdancing Christ, take a pill and sit down.
Might be because in the little kid's gap commercial, they're advertising boots. They really should have used strictly Gap merchandise, but I guess they didn't have any shoes that went well with the flannel :P

Much ado about nothing...... You don't even notice their shoes except that you've drawn attention to them. Looks like we all got snagged into your reverse marketing scheme. Negative advertising seems to rule the internet right now. Almost all of the top google ad placements are negative and slamming or riding the shirt tales of others. I think that while it gets you a look, it's negative and reflects badly on your morals.
I don't usually read blogs, but I happen to read some of these about the GAP boots. You saying " be glad you don't have to wear Army boots for real" offened me. Army boots are extremely comfortable we have to be on our feet for 18 hours or more. I'm honored to be in the Army no one asked me my opinion about shoes and if they did I probably wouldn't know what to say. I know it's your ignorance that had your write this. I serve the Country and I'm proud to do it. Especially this time of year I would think that you would be comforted that someone is looking out for your safty and fighting for freedom. PROUD TO BE AND AMERICAN AND PROUD TO WEAR ARMY BOOTS!!!
I use to report the spam with that little exclimination mark, until while I was doing it the spam took over my computer. I tried to do my part, but if AOL is going to let that happen, well I just can't afford to take that chance.

I thought I was getting censored for mentioning a name the first time, so I wrote it with a revision. In any case that shouldn't of happened for doing what someone won't do.

I just watched the 18 second commercial and the boots were barely even show once! Where is the issue?
